The Legend of Zelda 2: Adventures of Link is a scrolling-based sequal to The Legend of Zelda .
The game was first released on the Family Computer Disk System (FDS) in Japan, not on the NES (which was to come over 18 months later for both PAL and NA regions).
15 years after the NES release, Zelda 2 was ported onto the Gamecube for all regions, closely followed by GBA ports a year later.
In early 2007, a Virtual Console version on the Wii was, and still is, available to download. Then, in late 2011, Nintendo released the game as an Ambassidor Title for Nintendo 3DS Ambassidors.
