The Legend of Zelda is a 1985-86 RPG released for the Famicom Disk System in Japan, and later a less advanced version for the Nintendo Entertainment System. The game was created by Shigeru Miyamoto around the same time as the origional 1985 Super Mario Bros.and thus the games share a number of similar settings. Also, this is the first entry in the Legend of Zelda franchise.
First Quest Edit
The player controls Link the silent protagonist, as he heads on a journey to rescue the beautiful Princess Zelda from the Evil Dark Lord Gannon, and find the pieces of the Triforce of Wisdom, which Zelda broke into eight pieces so Gannon couldn't find it. According to the game's backstory after Zelda was kidnapped, her old assistant Impa went out to look for a hero to save her, she was attacked by Gannon's minions but Link appeared and deafeted them. After which she asked him to save her. After finding the eight pieces of the Triforce of Wisdom, Link is then able to infultrate Gannon's lair on Death Mountain. The two battle and Link is triumphant, and rescues Zelda, however, now he must go on a second quest to recover the Triforce of Power, which was also taken by Gannon.
Second Quest Edit
The second quest is also considerably harder than the first, with most dungeons being much more complicated to find your way through, some things being a lot harder to find, and much stronger bosses. But after deafeting the bosses and recovering the Triforce of Power, Link arrives back at Death Mountain and this time, kills Gannon to avoid his return. Peace is restored to Hyrule at last, and Link lives on as a Hero.
The game focuses from a top-down perspective, with Up, Down, Left and Right moveing Link around the Overworld, and A allowing him to use his Weapon, the B Button makes him use his secondary items, Select Pauses the game and Start brings up his Inventory. When the game begins Link has a simple three heart system later gaining more throughout the game. He can also fire beams from his sword when his health is full. A lot of the game revolves around puzzles, and well timed attacks. Link can also go to caves and shops to find and buy items and secrets, and Dungeons in order to find bosses and, once the bosses are defeated, find a piece of the Triforce of Wisdom/Power, and move on to Death Mountain.
